Joshua L Harris in ART, Holidays Around the World, Lights of Winter

From 1994 to 2009, the Lights of Winter served as a centerpiece of the annual “Epcot – Holidays Around the World” event. With its 30,000 synchronized lights and inspiring music, the display perfectly bridged the gap between the technological and traditional Worlds of Epcot. Many a night during early December, you would find me sitting under the archway or by the Fountain of Nations absorbing the almost spiritual splendor of this most transfixing of experiences.
The “Stars of Winter” pays tribute to the original Lights by ascending them into the heavens to become an entire constellation encircling a dormant Spaceship Earth.
